The course topics include the history, the science and the process of espresso. Training is in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere using a commercial espresso machine and quality products. Those who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology Record of Participation.
Content:
- The coffee tree, from the bean to the roast
- The different ways of producing coffee
- Breaking down the principles: the grind, dosing, tamping, the Perfect extraction, over and under extraction, milk steaming
- The espresso machine and how it works
- Demonstration of different espresso-based drinks
- Hands-on (machine time)
- Care and maintenance of your equipment
- Coffee quiz and lots of coffee drinking
