This programme is all about helping you build the confidence to speak Te Reo Māori in everyday life—whether you're at home, in the workplace, on the marae, or in the community. Our goal is to give you the tools to express yourself naturally and flexibly in a variety of situations, while deepening your understanding of the language.

You’ll develop the skills to tackle more complex language patterns and become more comfortable speaking Te Reo. We’ll do this through a mix of fun, interactive classes, online resources, immersive live-in wānanga (language workshops), and possibly haerenga (trips) to explore local landmarks that are rich in Māori culture.

The live-in wānanga are a real highlight. These workshops offer a chance to practise Te Reo in an authentic, culturally immersive setting. You’ll get to step into different roles in a supportive environment, making the language come to life and helping you feel more confident using it in the real world.

Our programme is flexible and includes a mix of face-to-face classes with guest speakers, waiata (songs), and pūrākau (stories) to keep things engaging. The wānanga might take place on campus or at marae, where you'll get to work together with others and connect with Māori culture in a hands-on way. You’ll also have access to online learning through platforms like OneNote or Moodle to support your progress at your own pace.
